This chapter explains how to scan artwork that's already colored - such as painted backgrounds and overlays. You should be familiar with using your scanner, and you may need to refer to your scanner's manual.
To do this, you use the ScanBackground application. The scanning is very similar to using ScanLevel to scan line artwork. However, the artwork for backgrounds and overlays is often larger than a scanner can scan in one operation. ScanBackground gets round this problem by letting you scan the artwork in sections, and provides tools with which you can splice these sections back together again.
It is assumed that you are using ScanBackground to scan in artwork in sections, using conventional flat-bed scanners containing a single pegbar on each edge of the scanner bed.
